- HTML2
- HTML 2.0 standard does not assume anything. Theoretically, the pages using this standard can run even on the smallest computers such as the Palm PDA.
- HTML3
- HTML 3.2 standard. Although theoretically downward compatible with HTML 2.0, I assume that you would at least have 640 pixel wide screen with 256 colors. This version does not include Java, JavaScript, or numerous plug-ins. Therefore, the pages done here should run even on small handheld computers such as PocketPC. Since this is a strict implementation of HTML 3.2, other special device users, such as WebTV, should still be able to view this successfully, however.
- HTML4
- HTML 4.0 standard. Assumes CSS1 compatibility. I assume that you would at least have 800 pixel wide screen with 256 colors. This version does not include Java, JavaScript, or numerous plug-ins. Some browser extensions may be used, but it should degrade gracefully for all browsers.
- WEBTV
- HTML 2.0 standard customized for WebTV viewers. Colors are specified, as well as other proprietary WebTV extensions.
