A falling snowflake caused an avalanche. Through inaction, humans have turned heaven into hell. What began as a thing of beauty, turned into gigantic mayhem and chaos. Oh, what a dangerous world we live in. The whole world is full of problems, and there's nothing we can do about it. Madness reigns as we began to slowly, but surely, descend into the depths of Hell. Let's be clear on this: WE caused our misery. Why would we do this? Did Satan tempt us to do this? Did Lucifer tempt Adam and Eve away from Garden of Eden? Surprisingly, no. We did this to ourselves. Furthermore, knowing that we are descending into Hell, still makes us powerless to resist. To wit:
Sport Utility Vehicle began with recreational purposes in mind. It cost more to buy and maintain, and has a tendency to roll over. That's fine. It's a niche vehicle and everybody knows it. What caused it to be so popular? Surprisingly enough: Safety. In a collision between two cars, SUV wins. Assuming an SUV collided with an economy car, the occupants of the economy car is much more likely to die. In an accident, SUV wins.
Instead of practising defensive driving, however, people are more reckless than ever. Speeding over 30 MPH over the posted maximum speed limits is very common nowadays. Reckless driving, once confined to inexperienced teenager, now permeates through all ages as people are becoming busier than ever. This does not take into account such as drunk driving, distraction, and just plain carelessness.
So, when one SUV owner, who is relatively protected from harm, started to drive recklessly, an avalanche is started. People buy big truck and cars, in anticipation of surviving an accident with these SUV owners. To put it bluntly, natural selection favors SUV instead of economy cars. As more and more of these SUV hit the road, people feel an increasing need to be protected from these cars, and the cycle repeats itself, until all cars disappeared, replaced by these SUV monsters.
Never mind that SUVs are prone to roll-over, waste gasoline, and otherwise caused misery to OTHER people. The end result is that everybody conspire to destroy everybody else. The natural progression is simply to become bigger and bigger. Unless there is a change in environment, there is nothing we can do. In this case, we can simply ban SUV altogether, or maybe treat SUV like a lethal weapon, which in a way, is true. Will we? Who is the Satan in this case? Where is Lucifer?
