I was busy packing last night. I didn't get to sleep until midnight. That is a troublesome thought, since I'm supposed to wake up at 3 AM and beat the rush hours for my trip to Florida.
Suitcase, check. Computer, check. Goodies, check. Boat, no room. I packed everything neatly into three bags. Since I plan to carry a few more things back, I purposely didn't fly this time. I have nothing against airlines, but the new restriction on luggage doesn't allow me to travel by plane. I was thinking of getting it by train, but it's too expensive. I woke up around 5 AM, and left at the crack of dawn at a little after six. By the time I get into highway 95, morning traffic is in full swing. I dread the day I will have to commute to Stamford every day. Imagine the traffic. I thought that was bad. How about 10 mph in New York? Things are really bad there. Plus, the road signs are confusing, and I have had to snipe in the traffic a little bit, no doubt causing disconcernation from other drivers. By noon, I've arrive in Philadelphia. Traffic eases up considerably. I did have to pay the toll on New Jersey turnpike, but traffic was great from then on. I eat some Popeye chicken strip at a service station on the way. Along with vinegar rice I prepared for the trip, it's quite good. I only wish that the rice was warmer. It's not like I have microwave. Around Washington, the traffic gets up a little bit crowded again, but thankfully, isn't as bad as New York. I still remember the previous time I was there: bumper to bumper. Driving a truck with a dolly attached isn't fun at that kind of traffic. However, this time, it's clear sailing. Virginia is for lovers, and it is beautiful. However, by this time, it was getting dark. I stopped by North Carolina welcome center to find a hotel to sleep in. Thus ended the first day.
